Yew Kong's service made applying to UNSW so easy.  He was so helpful and was always quick to respond to my questions.  Sending my application package through him ensured that I didn't forget to include any important documents or miss any other information.  The fact that it also saved me the Application Fee was just an added bonus!!

Yew Kong really facilitated my transition into Australian Uni system. He's very helpful and doesn't mind discussing things on the phone when needed. Besides, he's pretty easy to reach. He understands fears and worries of international students because of his personal experience and always tries to help.

In September 2008 I wandered into a travel show in Vancouver looking for  opportunities to volunteer overseas in South America.  But, I knew I also wanted to also pursue a masters program.  I had not expected to see representatives of universities and was not prepared with questions.  “So..” I thought, “What can they tell me?”

Yew Kong, representing UNSW in Sydney, was one of a few who listened to me, identified appropriate programs and kindled my interest.  The rest is history. But, not without his help. He made it so easy.  Every e-mail or inquiry was promptly answered.  He helped me avoid the hassles of anonymity in the application process. He took control of my application, saving me money and I venture to guess, many hassles since I applied quite late. International Student Services (ISS) then took over.  The information and support available to international students was truly amazing.

Special mention must go to Katie Yamaguchi and the whole ISS team.   Thank you UNSW, Yew Kong, Katie Yamaguchi and Chris Walker (my program coordinator) for a great year.

I appreciated having Yew Kong as a single point of contact for advice on programs, applying to UNSW and enrolling.  The ability to get information about the program I was interested in sent from North America gave me the tools to make my choices sooner. I enjoyed the advice which streamlined my application process and ability to send supplementary application materials to Canada made completing my application both cheaper and simpler.

You were really great to work with to help me get my application off to UNSW. Was really nice to feel that there was someone looking out for me and making sure my paperwork was submitted correctly.

I also really appreciated you connecting me with other American students, as one of them is now one of my best friends out here. I still have 1 semester to go as I ended up deferring to take advantage of the work and holiday visa. I return studies in March.

I had the pleasure of working with Yew Kong Tham as I committed to a new career path that started with my application to the University of New South Wales. Yew Kong was involved from the very beginning. I met him at a Post Graduate recruitment event in Manhattan, where I was living at the time, where he explained to me the details of the Sustainable Development program at UNSW that I was so excited to eventually be attending. Yew Kong guided me through the application process, and was always just an e-mail away with answers to all of my many questions.

At the culmination of the entire process, and just days before my departure date for Australia, I was informed by Australian immigration that my student visa had not been fully processed because of an oversight on the part of my physician regarding my medical examination. I was required to resend my information as expeditiously as possible and hope that it would be processed in time. I informed Yew Kong, who acted calmly and swiftly, and was able to contact people he had previously worked with in Australian Immigration to precipitate the granting of my visa. With Yew Kong’s assistance, I was able to get my visa approved at the last moment and was off to attend my program thousands of miles away in Sydney.

Yew Kong’s involvement in the completion of my program didn’t stop there; he even checked in with me throughout the course of my program to make sure that I had settled appropriately and that my studies were going well in Sydney. Yew Kong was an incredible asset and one that was instrumental in my successfully attending and completing my Master of Sustainable Development in the Built Environment program at the University of New South Wales.
